Hello, my new laptop, HP Pavillion 15 -cc187cl, i7, 8550 CPU, Windows 10, keeps shutting down after several hours. I have toggled everything in power settings to 'never' and also in all advanced settings to 'never'. It still continues to turn completely off after several hours. I have to go to the power button in top left-hand corner and turn it on each time. I'm so afraid the I will wear out the power button.then I will have trouble!
Settings screen closing immediately after opening on Windows 10 resolved. The biggest issue on the laptop that was upgraded was having the new Settings screen close immediately after opening. It would flash up for a moment, then close. It would affect other similar screens (that kind of look the same, with that new UI) and was particularly annoying.
What toggle am I missing to keep this laptop on through an entire day's work? I actually prefer to leave it on at all times so it can get it's updated through the night. Thanks for all your great help here! Took a screen shot of Power Sleep screen but it won't add here without a 3rd party helper(need URL).?Power and Sleep (under) additional settings change plan settings change advanced power settings sleep sleep after never(both battery and plugged in). I manually put in a 0 in the field(s) and it goes to never with a 0 choice. Without manually adding 0, it gives either never or a timed amount.I shouldn't have to use the power button as a daily function. It should stay on until I ask for a shut-down or restart from the the windows start.
(My windows 7 updated once a week at 3am.) I just thought of something. The Windows update screen, it only offers an 18 hour window for computer use, which I thought was odd?? That screen gives a start time and end time for active computer hours.
In parentheses is shows(max 18 hours) by the end time. What if I want to use my computer 19 hours a day? Or 20 hour days? Maybe thats the trouble? What exactly does maximum 18 hours of active hours mean?
