Third video in this series and actually the last I recorded before I wrecked my SD Card back when I used to record videos of PSP games (namely Persona 3 but also as you can see some FFT WotL).Here, we face Belias aka Velius, a really fearsome boss. Not being able to revive crucial characters because Onion Knights lack access to the Item command (not that non-Chemist units have that in any kind of (S)SCC at all.) means we have to integrate a totally offensive strategy to deal a lot of damage to Velius ASAP.Before the fight, you can see my changing equipment from the previous battle (the one with Rafa and the three rooftop archers and all that jazz). Ramza gets my best equips in order to 2HKO Wiegraf with the Bloodharp. This weapon is generally not seen as useful because Bard is an underwhelming, slow-to-reach class in usual circumstances, but Onion Knights don't mind using harps for attacking considering their offensive stats are really high. The drain HP effect makes Onion Knights wielding the strings especially hard to kill, but you have to watch out not to target any dark-immune or -absorbing enemies with it.Bloodstring Harp's range is a little limited, sometimes causing you to fail to reach the desired enemy with it, but usually allows flexibility when targeting, and you can also just target squares right ahead of the enemy, effectively targeting them (kinda like with crossbows and spears as most of you know). The benefit of KOing Wiegraf is that Ramza gets to double-turn the boss afterwards.
When Belias transforms, Ramza gets to hit the boss two times more for some heavy chip damage. Afterwards, Ramza should retreat so that Wiegraf is provoked into coming closer into the party's range where he becomes exposed and fully vulnerable to a vast variety of weapon attacks, included elementally-bolstered Icebrand, Ultimus Bow and some guns & more Bloodharp.Threatening the party with a OHKO, Wiegraf ends up being the one dead midcharge of a menacing summon. So that's how that is!Anyway, though I'd got even further into this challenge, I hadn't recorded any more videos of it. I believe I got stuck at the 2nd Marquis Elmdor (don't listen to his lies!) boss battle, because his crazy evasion makes targeting him with physical attacks a waste of time. For some reason, my attempts to redirect the assassins' Ultima spells all backfired and led to nothing productive when I tried it.
X50px Onion Knight is a job from Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions. It has Onion Knight basic stats and no real abilities. It has hidden potential, in that its power depends on the number of other jobs the unit has mastered.
It could be fun to return to this challenge someday!
