These icons represent optional ‘boss encounters’ with legendary ships with very high ship levels, massive armour and top notch weapons.
These are powerful, challenge-worthy ships located in the four corners of the map. To be able to defeat them, you should at least have several Elite upgrades for the Jackdaw. Elite Hull, Broadside Cannons, Swivel Gun, Heavy Shot and Ram are your priorities. Refer to this guide's Elite Ship Upgrades page for the individual location of the upgrades.La Dama NegraThis is the ship found in the southwest corner of the map. It's mortar attack is a bit different; you won't get an area-of-effect warning where the mortars will land. Because of this, it will have a good advantage in long distances.
Its mortars are designed to fall along your path; with this in mind, once you see it fires, you need to break your speed, make a sharp turn then go on full sail/travel speed until you get near it. You may use your own mortar to deal damage as you make your approach – you just have to be fast. Just brace yourself when you see the mortars already falling in your path.Once you're near, get close and attempt to ram her from behind.
Avoid staying side-by-side with this massive ship since her sides are heavily armored and she has more cannons. The ship's rear is unprotected and will receive normal damage. Circle around her while focusing your fire on the rear.
If possible use all weapons at your disposal; heavy shots and ramming will work wonders here.HMS PrinceThis is the “Black Ship” located in the southeast corner of the map. It has superior speed that it can use to outmaneuver you or escape your firing range while plotting mortar fire along your path.
The best way to deal with this is to alternately use your own mortar and side cannons while attempting to get near it. Once you're near, try to ram it, maneuver your ship to use heavy shots then turn around so you can lob fire barrels at it as well.
This aggressive attack pattern should expose a lot of weaknesses which your swivel gun can exploit.HMS Fearless and Royal SovereignThese two ships can be a pain to deal with. They're fast and they attack in synch.
Expect a barrage of mortar and heavy shots to come your way as you attempt to get in firing range. You'll have to scatter fire barrels to disrupt their movements and use your own mortar fire to deal long range damage, especially when the two of them are together. It is a bad idea going head to head with them since they're heavily armored and their cannons will rip you apart.Another thing to note is that if you sink one of them, the other ship will go “berserk” and will always attempt to ram you, dealing devastating damage.
The key to victory is by dealing damage to both ships, leaving them with critically low HP before sinking them. After sinking one of the two ships, pick up the loot to receive 10,000 reales. After getting it, let the other ship sink you to restart the battle, while you keep the reales you looted earlier.Make sharp turns by decreasing your speed and turning, then recover by going full-sail to get into firing position while any of the ships are making their wide turns.
This will enable you to land hits with your broadside cannons and expose the enemy ships' weaknesses.El ImpulutoDon't be fooled by its large size; this ship can outrun and outmaneuver your Jackdaw while sporting firepower and resiliency of a man o war. This ship will always attempt to ram you with high success because of its incredible speed. If your ship is fully upgraded at this point, you might as well attack it head on and steer just in time before its ram connects; this will give you ample time to counterattack with your broadside cannons and lob fire barrels at it. After doing this, quickly make a sharp turn, increase your speed and attack it with another volley of cannon fire as you're turning.Every now and then, El Impuluto will break away and escape your mortar firing range. Use this chance to recover your bearings and plan another approach. Attacking it head on is risky but will give you the best chance to get into effective firing range since it doesn't seem to use its projectile weapons (except heavy shots) that much.Charge AttackAfter defeating all Legendary ships, you'll have the ability to use the Charge attack.
This will give the Jackdaw a temporary boost in speed and ramming damage. Effectively use it when you're around 100-150m away from your target.
Here is a guide for all the legendary ships:HMS Prince (Navassa Zone)This ship is similar to the Man'O War ship but with heavier hits and defense. It will try to get away from the Jackdaw with its superior speed while using Mortar on you. Similar to other mortar attacks, you will see the area of effect, giving you a small opportunity to avoid damage.Try to move close and use the chain and ram strategy, trying to stay as close as possible so that it prevents the HMS prince from using Mortar. The HMS Prince is probably the easiest of the Legendaries.La Dama Negra (Serranilla Zone)The La Dama Negra is very similar to the HMS Prince in terms of its attack style with one key difference being that unlike other mortar attacks, it does not show the area of effect. One way to respond to the mortar attacks is try not to move towards it directly from a distance, as it will most likely fire devastating mortar shots in your path.
If you are circling the La Dama, slow down a little when you see mortars coming, as most of its attacks are adjusted for where you are speeding towards. The best strategy against this ship is to stay close and use heavy cannons while ramming where you can, staying close will also mean reduced chance of it using mortar on the Jackdaw. Remember that her sides are heavily armoured. Moving behind her will allow you to do normal damage.HMS Fearless And Royal Sovereign (Eleuthera Zone)This legendary battle is a fight against two with less HP than the rest of the Legendaries, they will come at you by funnelling you between them and using their side cannons against you.Best strategy is to chain shoot one and then ram them, once the boat is pinned down continue to use chain shot and ram, making sure the boat doesn't get too far away from you. Description of glitch: Accelerate at travel speed towards the Legendary ship, then at 570 meters disengage from the wheel. Shortly after, because Jackdaw still has some speed, it will float into the range of the Legendary ship and the cinematic will kick in.The combat however, will not start as Edward is not holding the steering wheel, but legendary ship will continue to advance towards the Jackdaw. At that point it is possible to jump over to the Legendary ship from the bow of the Jackdaw and assassinate all of the ship's crew, which renders legendary dead in the water. One volley of cannon fire will destroy it.
You can easily defeat El impoluto ship by boarding her in this strategies:A1.) Mark her in map or by using scope.2.) Dont use speed travel just use two sails.3.) Wait until you get closer in her in 580-589 m and hold STop to release wheel.4.) Quickly run Edward to Jackdaw's bowsprit. When she get closer to you, LEAP Edward to board him to ship,5.) Kill all Crews, Captain and Scouts and go back to jackdaw to fire cannon to sink her.Remember:you must walk only on deck, dont climb on boats and use stairs. If you fail to do that, and youre not board in ship, and Edward is swimming around the ship but El impoluto is Stopped, closed sail and anchored.Just do thisB1.) Go back to jackdaw2.) See if Jackdaw and El impoluto's Sail holder is meet to each other.3.) Climb mast or ratlines, walk on sail holder to el impoluto's sail holder. Dont leap or jump.4.) Kill the scouts, use ratlines or mast to down to deck then kill all crew and return to jackdaw.Thank you, sorry for my grammars. To take down a standard Man o' war (Galleon) is quite easy once you have + Tier 3 or 4 upgrades and some practice, from personal experience, you can use the 'Broadside cannon and swivel gun strategy' this tactic is relatively quite simple.Fire with your broadsides at the ship, mainly the bow or the rear. When the crosshairs come up hold Triangle (On PS Systems) until the other crosshair matches the other and let go (If you have elite just hold it).Now just circle the ship while repeating the 2 steps above. (Don't forget to brace when the Galleon is firing because if you don't have good hull upgrades, the broadsides do TONS of damage).
