Windows 10 with MBR partition. Press the Windows key + R. In the Run window that comes up, type diskmgmt.msc and press Enter. Select the partition marked System Reserve. Press-and-hold or right-click on it. Select Change Drive Letter and Paths. Enter Y for the drive letter. Tap or click OK.

I have had Windows 10 running on my PC for a few months now and it has been pretty good (well, after the first few hic-cups lol).I have an update pending but whenever i try to install it it i get'Windows 10 couldn't be installed'You cant install Windows on a USB Flash Drive using setupCan anyone help? I am NOT trying to install Windows, just do an update, and i have no Flash Drives plugged in either.most confusing.Windows update tells me the update is a Feature Update to Windows 10, version 1607 if that helps.Many thanks in advance. I have just had a little search and found exactly what you mean.You are right, it is an old version, but there does not appear to be any reason i can not update.I have followed there instructions for doing it and i still get that same error message. In fact one of the options i tried tells me what i am running and what it will update to. I downloads, verifies the download and start its process of updating, then jumps up and says this PC can not run Windows 10 (which of course is what it is already running).Is there anything i can do??

In Start, type 'Regedit' and select the first option. Navigate to HKEYLOCALMACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControl. Change the value of 'PortableOperatingSystem' to 0.Followed that and it upgraded straight away to Version 1607 (build 14393.321)Thanks for your help flavallee.

Installing Windows 10 on New PC?I'm going to be building a new PC on Christmas and want to install Windows 10 on it. I have Windows 10 on my current PC, which I installed upgrading from 8.1 with the files on a USB. How do I go about installing a clean copy of Windows 10 on this new PC? I think I recall something about installing it once makes Microsoft recognize your hardware, but since this will be a PC I'm not sure what steps I need to take. Do I need to go 8.1 - 10 or is there a method of going directly to 10?
